Most of you all know about Kory's eye infection, but for those who don't... here is a summery and update of what has been going on for the the last month...
In January Kory and I both suffered from eye infections. on new years day, mine came first- no big deal (since I've had a few in the past). i followed the regular procedure. Antibiotics for a week and no wearing contacts for about 3-4 weeks. my infection went right away. 2 weeks later Kory got the same thing!! one morning he said his eye started to hurt. so we both thought we'd watch it for a few days and treat it like it was the same infection as mine. well the next day his eye was worse. and by that night he was in so much pain that all he could do was lay down in the darkest room possible (the bathroom) all day. the next morning he looked at his eye and the entire blue part of his eye was completely white. he was blind in that eye. so then Kory decided to go to the eye doctor that i had been seeing for my infection. The doctor took one look at his eye and instantly started to worry. He said this was no ordinary eye infection, but it was much more serious. So serious that it was out if his hands to deal with. He sent us to the emergency room to have an "on call" Opthamalogist come in (it was saturday and no one was open). we went to the ER and met Korys family there and went through the long ER procedure to get an on call Opthamalogist in. when we finally did that, the doctor was extremely worried for Kory's eye. He found that it was a Serious and very aggressive Fungal infection in his eye. something that could not be taken lightly. It was so serious that IF we didn't do anything about it soon, he would lose his vision completely. he prescribed Kory 4 different eye drop medications that he was to take every 30 minutes all day and all night for the next week. So we did exactly that. Kory was exhausted after 2 days of doing that. but we immediately saw some improvement. The doctor said the improvement would be minimal each day since this was such an aggressive fungus in his eye that had basically taken over his eye within 2 days. Kory saw the doctor every single day for the first week (including Sunday) and the infection slowly started dissolving. and he was able slowly back off on the medications. Each day we have seen small improvements. it has now been 1 month (yesterday) since this has started and we are still in the process of getting better. The infection is gone but now he is taking drops to minimize the scarring. He still is slightly blind in his eye but his vision has improved so much since the first day. when we first went in- all he could see was motion and nothing else. Now he can see things as if he was looking through a cloud. He is still taking drops and is still healing, so we are hoping and praying that his vision will soon return! the chances of it were not likely from what the doctor has said but we have seen so many miracles already that we hope another one will be his returning vision.
Kory's eye has been doing so much better this last week. here are 3 pictures of his eye. (I dont have a picture of the first day).
2nd week (sorry its a blurry picture)
3rd week (click to enlarge)We still don't know how he got it but we hope this never happens again. :) but as you can see his eye is doing so much better and we are so happy about that. He has been able to get back on track with his school work this semester and is feeling a ton better.
we just want to thank all of you for your prayers and fasting for his eye. but most of all for your caring and support you have given us. Even just that simple phone call or email meant so much to us. we are so grateful for such great friends and family for supporting us through all this. we are so blessed! we have learned so much from this experience. And though we have struggled a bit from this "adventure", we have truly enjoyed the blessings and miracles from it. Thank you!!
Here is a picture of Kory and I on Valentines day. We went to our stake's Valentines Ball. We had a "ball" j/k. it was fun to dress up and have dinner and a dance all prepared for us... even though it reminded me of back when we used to go to the regional dances when we were 14 all too much. haha.

WOW! I had no idea! I am so glad to here that Kory is doing better. I will start praying for full recovery. Thanks for letting us all know of his progress.
You guys look great, by the way!
Love ya!
oh...I really should re-read before I post. I am glad to 'hear' that Kory is doing better! ;)
We are praying for you here! Zachary turned 8 in December and takes fasting very seriously. One Tuesday when we had dinner, he just quietly pushed his plate aside and didn't say anything. I thought he was sick, so I asked him if he was ok. He said "I'm fasting for Kory so he can see again." He is just sure you will!
first let me just tell you how much i LOVE your short hair, it looks so good on you! we are happy to hear that kory's eye is doing better. please let us know it there is anything we can do for you.
we should have gone to the stake dance together! It definitely reminded me of stake dances as a teenager, way funny!
Love your dress!! So cute and your hair! You cut it! It is darling. I really like it.
We are so glad to hear the progress and blessings with Kory's eye. It has been a priviledge for our family to be able to take part.
We continue to fast and pray for you. Kristi, you're an awesome wife and you are doing a great job taking care of that boy. It doesn't go unnoticed. :D
